This project all started out as a short project that I worked on during my sophomore year j-term course. The course was illustrating for children's literature. We got to create a short children's story, illustrated the rough spreads of the book, and then we created one final illustration of whatever page of our illustration we chose. I decided to write a children's circus story. I originally started out with just random drawings of animals doing weird and wacky things inspired by my freshmen year's cut-out puppet animation. My circus animation was about a circus that was run by animals and the humans were being tamed by them. I'll be posting my freshmen animation soon so you can have a look at my first rough design of the circus story. Then from there, I came up with a story of animals doing things but, the story was in bad shape and needed lots of work. So, when it came time for me to decide what I wanted to do for senior project, I thought why not use something I have already and revise and work through it. And so that's where I started. Here was the final illustration I created during my j-term class. I will be posting the rough spread sheets also so you can see the progression.
